Sony Pictures has released a new trailer and poster for director M. Night Shyamalan’s sci-fi film after Earth.

The Movie stars Will Smith and Jaden Smith as a father and son who crash land on a post-apocalyptic Earth, “as usual” but what’s new in it !? yes, there are no aliens but our native species evolved to kill us well I can’t say I didn’t see that coming. But this time around it’s up to his son movie and real-life to fight for survival when the father is seriously injured.  This trailer reveals a ton of new footage as well as the reason behind the duo’s crash landing.

Will Smith takes a back seat in this actioner and guides his on-screen and off-screen son through its paces, allowing him to take metaphorical (and literal) leaps on his own.  Will we accept the younger Smith as an up-and-coming action star? Is Shyamalan back? With something good?  We’ll find out this summer.

Let’s just say I like apocalypse and I like sci-fi so I will wait for this one to turn up but I for one don’t like most of Shyamalan’s movie’s and I don’t like mood killer surprises, So I don’t want Will to be some babysitter in the movie for whatever reason please WILL don’t do papa roles just YET! After Earth opens June 7, 2013. Here’s the official synopsis for After Earth:

A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
